my apologies for the total absence

Im just so super busy. And when im not busy, im tired. And when Im not tired, I just have nothing in my mind to write about. So, I think I will take a small hiatus. My outfits are getting a litle repetitive and I dont want to post anything unless I think its good enough for yall-im a perfectionist...sorta. Maybe when the holidays come around ill have more time and more shopping money. thank you guys for everything so far.

wow, I can NOT believe its been like two weeks.
I feel so bad about it but lately Ive just been really tired, like chronic fatigue or something
but im always thinking up new ideas, I promise.
-and ive tried to keep my comments regular but its really hard somedays

T-shirts, t-shirts, read all about 'em

T-shirts are so basic, they should be so easy to pick out right?
but Ive noticed that some women must have a really hard time with something like this, even I as a particularly..'gifted' young lady have trouble with this.
And one, or two I should say, of the biggest reasons that t-shirt doesnt fit right are men's best friend.
You know, the globes, 3rd base, love pillows, whatever you call them, we have them and they can make outfits better, or so much worse.
Anyway to cut to the chase, I thought I could do a mini-guide on T shopping for your, ahem, little blessings.

Small to Regular Bust
(probably A/B)
-high necks and asymmetrical necklines broaden the shoulders and create the illusion of a larger bust.
-Printed tees are also flattering for small chests.
-try sleeveless shirts. Women with small chests tend to have slimmer arms so the goal is to draw attention to them and away from the chest.
WARNING: Avoid low scoop-neck tops or deep V-neck tops with three-quarter sleeves. They accentuate bony chests and draw attention to your, lack of, assets The V acts as an arrow to the ladies and the sleeves accentuate small arms.

Regular to Full Bust

(probably a C/D)
-scoop necks and V-necks break up the expanse of the chest area and draw attention away from your bust.
-stick with solid colors.
-cap sleeve, long sleeve and three-quarter sleeves camouflage larger arms that sometimes accompany larger chests.
WARNING: high, round neck and square neck T-shirts make full busts look like one bulky mass. Also avoid sleeveless and oversized T-shirts, enhance your curves don't try to hide them, you'll look sloppy

I was extremely tired and needed to wear these new jeans so I pretty much based my outfit on these two elements.

but, sadly, education and life get in the way.
Soon Ill be off to culinary school (hopefully) and that is all I can anticipate lately.

On another note, Ive always heard of chictopia but never even went to the website.

My brown-eyed girl

Hello my darlings, its been a while, I feel like theres so much to say but now trying to write it all down, my head is empty
so my week was hectic and busy. surprise, surprise, I know.
Today I slept late-until 10 which is late compared to weekdays-and baked a nice cake with chocolate frosting and dreamt of boys and took pictures and watched football and did all the things a girl should do on a warm afternoon relaxing.
Ive had non stop stuff to do this week, I can barely even get 8 hours in a night, which is really horrible because I'm not one of those people that can wake up from 5 hours and even function.

Ive also developed a love of brown and moccasins and all things earthy this week.
I think its because, for some reason, most of my belts are brown.

Not to mention Ive been living in my moccasins, we've gotten our first wave of autumn in the south, a ridiculous 70 degrees-burrrr!

(PS: Have you seen Agyness Deyn's new hair You might feel differently, but I for one think its...for lack of a better word B-A-D. I'm all for free expression but...wow. And will this affect her career? I mean isn't this kind of thing hard to work with for some designers? I don't know...just saying.)

Wow, wow, wow. I adore Nylon and I honestly couldn't believe they put Megan Fox on the cover-I worship her so I was super excited-but when I really-really looked through the mag, I thought it was a huge mistake. Megan is hot, like H-A-W-T. Which is why is why I could see how out of place she was in the whole layered-studded spread, since shes usually in slinky black number. Even her smiles were all 'come-hither-im-a-vixen'. Nylon, I love you. Megan, I adore you. but please don't mix again.

And on another 'wow' note. Versace resort=fab. Ive really only noted Versace as being the gown, but it was such a cute collection I had to look through the entire thing. Very girly and colorful and minimalist all together!

I'm sorry I haven't been around much my dears. Ive been battling a cold-yess I keep getting sick, my immune system is on holiday this season. Luckily, I have been able to log on and comment on some of the lovely people I follow-not that what I say really matters. I'm trying people, dont attack me. I wanted to wear this dress before it got all 'officially' fall. I'm so in love with the ruffly, lacy collar, its really the only reason I bought it. but..the dress is white...and white is never really amazing on my bum-to be quite blunt, so I just put on this skirt I got on clearance. It sounds a little conceited to say but, I just love it when people complimented me on my outfit. It just brightens my day, especially on days when I'm feeling all conscious, I'm only human after all. Anyway, I've been really busy lately so I'm sorry I'm not posting every day or every other but I'm getting in the habit of twittering-so just look out for a tweet almost every day or so.

PS-I'm so proud of myself for finally venturing into the great outdoors for my pictures, I have to say its been better picture quality-great natural lighting-and I couldn't have done it without the fearlessness of some of you guys, you made me take the step haha, thank you!

This is the first time I wore these shoes and I fell in love. I felt like Pocahontas all day! I also love my bag, it says 'Ecuador', my Latina amiga got it for me when she went home a while ago but i just started embracing it. It has a very cute look to it no?

Please tell me I'm not crazy for loving this fabric. It came from a pair of my father's old pants and I was just like 'this is wayyy too good to waste' so I chopped them up and resewed them. I didn't even feel like getting dressed this morning so I just threw it on with a cardigan.

I wasn't that sad over the end of summer until today-its cold, noooooooo! I'm just naturally cold blooded and even though its still in the 70s and 80s where I am but theres a wind and its ruining my desire for skirts and bare legs. Guess you don't know what you got until its gone right? I suppose soon Ill be having to invest in a good pair of tight unless I want to wear pants all fall/winter.

Oh, Ive missed you bloggers so! Let me start off by just apologizing. I know I haven't been around much. There was just so much for me to do with summer winding down. I had to do some winter shopping (I'm always shopping out of season), get my checkups, then I spent a couple days with my aunt and uncle-I have the most adorable baby cousins everr. Well...I've just been busy, lets leave it at that. I will make it up to you though, scouts honor!
Its feels like so long since Ive updated, but I have been keeping up with some of your blogs and commenting-not as much, but I tried.

So there are so many things Ive had in my brain to say, Ill just put it all here in list formation.

1) I wanted to write about one of my favorite bloggesses(...?). She takes the best out
door pictures-this is amazing to me because sunlight has never done anything good for my skin, and wears just as much-if not more-black then I do, which is a hard to do. Anywho, Shes having a contest for a goodiebag of Norwegian fashion week things. (I've never been to Norway or anything but from the pictures those Norwegians can do it big) Check out, follow, and love her.

2) Its taken me so long and Ive been putting it off forever but I'm finally..tweeting? I think that is the correct pronunciation. I've never bothered with a personal twitter page and I was really forced to make one for the blog. I suppose I've just never been interested in reading about other people every day, day after day. Its not that I don't enjoy celebrities but...I never understood people who could slave away knowing everyone they're dating/feuding with. Ive always found it pointless considering you never have and probably never w
ill meet them...Am I being a realist or just a negative Nancy in this case? Oh, you know its up to all of you to keep me in line!

3) School is starting for me again-hectic hectic. But, that won't stop me too much, I am definitely going to be here, blogging my derriere off.

4) HUGS AND KISSES TO LEIA AND SHERIN AT HiFASHION! I was so thankful to win their contest for this Perricone MD stuff. (I checked the
'site and this little bottle would've run me $100!). Here's the exciting journey:

FYS-Skirt

So I've never been crazy about skirts but for some reason they have been in every outfit of mine this summer, maybe just the weather, or maybe..my own fashion evolution? No? I didn't think so...but since I love them-for now-I decided to do another lovely FYS on them.

IF YOU ARE

PEAR SHAPED

try a-line skirts or any kind of straight cut that doesn't draw too much attention to the 'assets', and stick to light and flowy fabric so your not adding weight to your silhouette

PETITE/LONG&LEAN

try pencil skirts or something pleated to make you look a bit feminine and add curve (you're too lucky, yours is the body type that can handle really bold prints well!)

AN HOURGLASS

slitted skirts or wrap skirts give you a little..oompf, without being too 'va-va-va-voom'-which of course is the key for us hourglasses.

AN APPLE

three words for you apple-straight, straight, straight! Straight skirts, not super tight, are essential for your shape.

Ive learned a lot from you other bloggers out there and found a lot of different styles and people. One of the best parts is finding people who you have things in common with, like my fellow African blogesses. (shout to Diane, I love her style) Since some of you guys are so outright of your background, it made me feel crappy about not doing more to display mine. So decided to belt one of my (sister's) old outfits and wear it was a dress (this is actually a top that's supposed to be worn with pants, but the pants weren't that cute)

In other news, I went thrifting again a couple days ago and found this amazing wet seal dress, luckily it was half price so I got it for $2.50. Can't wait to wear it.

My feet were killing me today, but I'm still happy.

So today as soon as I woke up, which is actually pretty early for me around 10 somethin', I went thrifting

And I walked-warning: never walk anywhere in gladiators

but it was soooo worth it.

I got a pair of denim shorty-shorts-not that short (American Rag)

A white button-down (which is actually maternity but i plan to tuck it a lot)

I was also really happy to get this bag because id been drooling over some f21 bags for so long but didn't want to shell out $30 (Yes, I am that cheap sometimes)

Its great because I can put some papers and school stuff in there, but use it as a purse too

It was raining cats&dogs yesterday evening-living in the south means you get used to hurricane season-so I decided to do a project. It took me around 3 hours but I finally finished it. You can kind of see the white thread a) because I don't go around buying corral thread really and 2) I sewed the whole thing by hand. Yes, I do all my DIYs by hand because I don't own a sewing machine and would end up killing myself if I ever attempted to operate one. It was actually very easy; all you need is scissors, holding tape (thats what that grey thing is in the picture up there), and a needle (and thread of course, duh). Don't mind the ugly shirt I was just taking pictures to show you the skirt. Ill make a real outfit of this skirt later-ciao bellas.

I went shoe shopping today!

Sounds regular to you, but this is like a huge semi-annual event for me.

these are the one of the pairs I got,

(I know it took me a while to get a good pair of gladiators, but I did.)

I was on a creative kick today.
One time, when I was probably 8, I went to this cute Indian restaurant and had the best batch of rice pudding.
Since I don't even know how to use books anymore, I went on the WWW to find out how to make it.
And since it was like midnight, I tried to do half the size of the recipe...without a measuring cup.
Needless to say, Its HORRIBLE.
Anyone know a better recipe for it, ha?
but that's okay, I'm just sticking to eggs ass my midnight snack.

FYS-CARDIGAN

okay, I think by now everyone know cardigans are a must. But as always, I see mistakes made with them. I thought I would just give people a mini-guide.

IF YOU ARE THE ONE WITH...

A BUST
your cardigans should hit at the hips to elongate your torso and shorten your upper body. Try a V-neck to show off a little 'somethin somethin'-remember the secret is subtle cleavage not covering everything up

A PETITE FRAME
Try something like a crisp button down underneath to add volume and balance out your hips. Cropped cardigans with V-,scoop and sweetheart necks all work for you, congrats.

SHOULDERS
Open cardigans balance out your shoulders. Shop for one with large button, like the cardigan on the left here, or a hood to keep your look vertical.

A TUMMY

Three words: layer, Layer, LAYER! This hides the 'pooch' without adding unnecessary bulk. Let the clothes under peek out of the cardigan too. And remember, whatever you wear underneath, keep it untucked and long.

WARNING!

[what you are about to see is not suitable for the young and/or fashionably impressionable]

RULE 1:

Never wear cardigans that hit you on the largest part of your hips. This draws the most attention to this area. (Not to mention it makes it impossible to sit if something has a death grip around your hips)

RULE 2:

Short sleeved cardigans+buttoned up= bad. This especially applies to the hourglass and fuller busted woman. It causes the cardigan to bind and pull at the buttons, making you seem larger than you are. Its just a big no-no.

Okay, I've sort of been on hiatus because I'm currently spending the week at my aunt and uncle's abode. Spending time with my cousins is my favorite-besides the diapers. Anyway, my apologies for not updating daily-for goodness sakes the word daily is in my title. But good has actually come from it. We went out to get ice cream the other day, and what do I keep seeing walk in the place? Women with too much color, clashing patterns, or things that their bodies just couldn't pull off. I know everyone wants to keep up with the latest trends but sometimes its better to be chic than shameless. So I'm going to run through some things you just can NOT go wrong with. These are the must haves of your closet-mix and match these to make hundreds of looks. Wont you be turning heads miss 'I-get-out-of-bed-looking-like-this'?

1) DARK WASH JEANS
Dark wash jeans are just..DUH! Everyone needs a pair. They are universally flattering, no matter what body type you have. Plus they can can be worn with a blouse, with a tank, with heels, with sandals, with flats.....on and on and on. And you don't just have to stop at one pair!Try a skinny, a flare, bootcut, mid-rise, low-rise. I mean, do the possibilities EVER end on this one? Bottom line-get some today.

Cardigans are amazing.
dress it up, dress it down, whatever.

Get it in the basic colors (by basics, I mean, black, white,
gray, or navy) so that it goes with all your style changes.

3) COCKTAIL DRESS
I don't care what you wear but every woman needs a cocktail dress. Put this dress over leggings and pair it with heels for Sunday best chic. Or wear it with a cute pair of flats for date night. ( Hint: black isn't always attractive, most people find red to be the most attractive dress color, so go for something bold-but always elegant dahhling)

Plaid has come back in a big way! This look goes amazingly with anything-especially denim. Just make sure to layer it with simple things. You cant have more than one statement piece at the same time!

Blue is also going to be the it color. Any shade of it, although I would avoid the sky blue shade. Teals and Navys are verryyy classy. (Maybe even pair it with a plaid like Sir Valentino dares to do)

turtleneck=winter chic. And this piece really does go with EVERY-THING. Throw it under a blazer, a sport jacket, by itself, with denim, with khakis. Yes, I could go on and ON. (and how 'bout those WORK boots Neil Barrett was throwing in his line? Told ya they were hot!)

I have just fallen in love with this cardigan since I got it last week and had a total brainstorm last night when I was trying to throw an outfit together really fast before I went out. One staple-like this beautiful cardi-that you can wear a million different ways and with whatever style your rockin'. (Since my battery was low and none of my friends agreed to model, a million dwindled down to about four, sorry!)

This is a great look for summer. Solids are always safe but i would add something bright, like my yellow shorts, to make you stand out, in a good way. Gladiators and a little messy hair will top off the vibe.

One of the best style statements. please, PLEASE, PLEASE dont steal your moms shoulder pads-totally not the same effect. It should make you look mature, not manly. in love with this style-already bought my shouldered coat. (Marc Jacobs wins in this line-up)

Hip Hugging Heelage
Not crazy about this style personally, but I must respect it. If you can rock it out, go for it, and good luck. (Rag&Bone always brings it-they win it)

Never was a girly girl, so im surprised this has turned out to be one of my favorite comebacks. Pair it with a few neutrals to make the color stand out. (Michael Kors wins-duhh)

Love yellow, and i love its comeback for fall too. (Toss up, I love them all)

Amazing on the runway. Sidewalk? not so sure... Make sure not to go overboard and look like your being swallowed. If you go for it, wear it , don't let it wear you. (Yigal Azrouel wins, the gray is too chic)

EIGHTIES REDUX

Dont go to Madonna 'like a virgin', but this is a season must in your wardrobe. Going back to basics can actually be a good thing. Who knew? (Marc Jacobs-win)

GLITTER AND SHINE

Sequins aren't just for the night anymore! Throw a nuetral over them (as my idol, Sir Ralph Lauren does) and take them into the day. I wouldn't usually do anything this bold for the day, but i might just have to break out my bedazzler for the season(:
